Skiing "in" Las Vegas | Lee Canyon Resort
Okay, okay while not technically IN Las Vegas, neither is the famous strip! Gotcha there..
Lee Canyon is local mountain for skiers and (mostly) snowboarders who make the Las Vegas area home. From where I live, it's just under 60 miles and takes a little more than an hour to get to. Some visitors come up for a little pause on the from action of the strip and Downtown Las Vegas as well.
There are four lifts at Lee Canyon (not counting their magic carpet) Rabbit Peak, Ponderosa, Bluebird, and Sherwood and I used them all a lot as the mountain wasn't even close to being crowded the entire day. It was a great time, I got a lot of laps in and I really feel like I took the step from beginner to in...

Ka'ena Point Hiking Trail | Oahu, Hawaii
Просмотров 1833 месяца назад
This is the final video from our trip to Hawaii When searching for places to go in Hawaii I noticed Ka'ena Point sticking out on the northwestern tip of Oahu. From the first few pictures I saw I knew I wanted to go there. I'm glad we did because it was gorgeous, it was cool to see the wildlife as well. We saw albatrosses, monk seals, and even saw a whale (not shown on video) off in the very far...

In the previous video (ruclips.net/video/ZMSCpGWS3tk/видео.html) Angie and I bailed out of a backpacking trip after realizing we didn't have a lighter to light our cooking stoves at the bottom of Waimea Canyon. This Thanksgiving Angie and I kept the day simple and just went for a hike at Red Rock Canyon and went out to eat at one of our favorite restaurants in Las Vegas. First of you posts I've seen, still watching but great job! On the first fall I don't like to tell folks what to do but I hope it is limited (somehow) to only so many swimmers. With how people are treating the environ in CO these days (like driving off the road in the high country to park where there are signs not to do that -- it takes yrs for the ground to recover at that elevation folks) I'd hate to see like 40 people packed in those swimming holes with all their trash and sunscreen going downstream. Yuck. Best,, from Colorado!

      No, there aren't many turn offs, especially that far down the road so it was pretty easy. I'm pretty sure there was a sign marking the road name too. But if you've never been on Hole in the Rock Road it is a looooong washboard road lol

    • @WanderingBlock

      I never learned how to use the poles.. lol I'm going to Utah to ski in a couple weeks, I'll probably grab some poles if they're available and see if they do anything for me. I think they really aren't that necessary unless you're taking tight turns. Next year I'll probably take a lesson where I can learn how to properly use them.

    Nice Video! Hey, how hard is it to get to the Cecil Cove area from Broadwater Falls? If you had 2 vehicles, you could see Paige and Broadwater, then hike down and maybe get to Thunder Canyon Falls, and follow the trail back to the Cecil Cove Trailhead to avoid climbing back up.

    • @WanderingBlock
      @WanderingBlock 5 месяцев назад

      I'm not sure tbh, I know you could at one point but there was an active landslide somewhere on the Cecil Cove trail. Idk if that made it harder to get down there and if the area is still considered dangerous. The one time I went down to Thunder Canyon Falls I actually hiked down from Hideout Hollow. I was by myself though and only had one car; that hike out was a workout, I could see why you would want to avoid climbing out lol

    Hi guys, I know this sounds repetitive but we seemed to have covered similar sites, albeit at different times. I did this route with my wife ( since left) in 1994 ! Very pretty area and quiet. There were some climbers parked by the roadside who didn't venture in land. Over the years, I've visited and camped in and around Moab. In the early days, 1989, it had a great atmosphere, not busy, but a lovely backwater slickrock town. Its now been spoilt by overcommercialism and has lost character. This is reminiscent of other towns I used to love like Flagstaff, Payson, Prescott, Sedona. All in the name of making a fast buck eh ? My hiking, climbing and camping days are sadly over. I live in England, now 79, so get my enjoyment watching your vids, so thanks. Still hiking in the UK but the weather is poor compared to the Southwest Four Corners sunshine.

    • @WanderingBlock
      @WanderingBlock 7 месяцев назад

      I wish I could have seen these places before the commercialization. Especially Moab and Sedona. I am thankful there's still a few places left to get away from the crowds tho
